Capturing the Landscape: Perspectives from Two Artists Painting in Pastel

Guided by the landscape, this single-day workshop explores the possibilities of the pastel medium, delving into the viewpoints of two artists: one focusing on realism and the other on abstract expressionism. The emphasis will be incorporating the fundamentals of painting with the visual colors, lines, shapes, and rhythms inspired by nature. Tailored for novice to advanced, this integrated workshop will present each artist’s unique take on the landscape, offering detailed instruction and constructive feedback.

Recommended Supply List Use what you have on hand; professional grade preferred for best outcomes

  • UArt Sanded Pastel Paper, Beige, 9×12, 400 Grit; 4 sheets
  • Hard & Soft Pastels, small assortment of landscape colors (e.g. Sennelier Extra Soft Half-Stick, set of 20; Prismacolor NuPastel, set of 12)
  • Sketchbook
  • Pit Pens; 4 grayscale colors (e.g. Tombow, Faber-Castell)
  • Kneaded Eraser
