Solo Exhibit: The Last Bloom

“Summer is my favorite time of year and not just because of the weather. As a mom to 5 kids, it’s my time to make memories, slow down a little and enjoy the extra time together. It seems each year I find myself trying to hold onto summer as long as possible. This series of paintings are my attempt to capture the last blooms of summer, to savor the season just a little bit longer.” – Kati Kleimola

Kati Kleimola was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, from a family of makers and fixers. She studied Fine Art at Columbus College of Art and Design and later transferred to The University of Toledo to pursue her love of teaching. She taught art at a small K-8th grade school for eight years before leaving to focus on her art full time. Working primarily with acrylic paint, she is most inspired by the people in her life, nostalgic stories and the flowers growing in her yard. “It’s never just about flowers. Every painting has a story behind it or a person in mind.”  She paints from her home studio, allowing her to spend time with her husband and five children.
